The Ardent Years of the Bussière Salon
Bussière regularly gathered with prominent Chinese and French literati, educators, biologists, and archaeologists. At Bussière Garden, they hosted the “Sino-French Cultural Salon,” a forum where they discoursed on topics ancient and modern and synthesized the best of Chinese and Western ideas, all in a quest to find remedies for pre-1949 China afflicted with poverty and weakness.
